Google Enhances AI Mode with Image and PDF Uploads

Google AI Mode Updates

Google is updating AI Mode on desktop with the ability to process images, enabling users to ask detailed questions about pictures. The company is also adding support for PDF uploads on desktop, which can help users digest lengthy materials. Users can ask AI Mode to summarize documents and ask follow-up questions, with responses including links to references.

In addition to PDF upload support, Google is introducing a new Canvas feature, accessible to those enrolled in the AI Mode Labs experiment. Canvas allows users to consolidate information about a specific topic in a side panel that updates as they ask more questions.

AI Mode’s Search Live is also getting video input on mobile, allowing users to ask questions about what the camera sees. With Lens in Chrome, users will be able to ask AI Mode what’s on their desktop screen, with an “Ask Google about this page” dropdown option in the address bar.
