New Personalization Options

In a post on X, OpenAI announced a set of new personalization settings that let users fine‑tune the chatbot’s personality. The four new options are Warm, Enthusiastic, Header & Lists, and Emoji. Each option can be adjusted to “more,” “less,” or left at the default level, giving users precise control over how the assistant presents information and interacts.

Integration with Existing Style Controls

The latest settings supplement the style controls that were added earlier with GPT‑5.1. Those earlier options—Professional, Candid, and Quirky—are found under the “Base style and tone” menu in the Personalization tab. Together, the older and newer controls create a broader palette for users to shape the chatbot’s demeanor, from formal business language to a more relaxed and expressive tone.

OpenAI indicated that the new Warm and Enthusiastic settings are a direct response to the earlier outcry about the GPT‑5 rollout, which some users felt made the assistant sound less friendly. By allowing users to choose how warm or enthusiastic the responses should be, OpenAI aims to restore the conversational warmth that many users expect from ChatGPT.
